  • Author: Sophie
  • Total Time: 16 minutes
  • Yield: 8 donuts + 8 holes 1x
  • Diet: Vegan

Description

These soft, warm, and flavorful Air Fryer Apple Cider Donuts are the ultimate fall treat. Made with apple cider, cinnamon, and a hint of nutmeg, they’re crisp on the outside and tender on the inside — no deep frying needed! Perfect for cozy mornings, holiday gatherings, or a quick sweet snack.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Donuts:

  • 1 can (16 oz) refrigerated biscuit dough (or homemade dough)

  • ¼ cup apple cider (reduced if desired for stronger flavor)

  • 6 Tbsp melted butter (for brushing after air frying)

Cinnamon Sugar Coating:

  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 Tbsp ground cinnamon

Optional Apple Cider Glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar

  • ¼ cup apple cider

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

  • Pinch of salt

  • Splash of lemon or orange juice (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat air fryer to 350°F (175°C).

  2. Open biscuit dough and cut out centers using a small round cutter to form classic donut shapes. Save the centers for donut holes.

  3. Lightly grease the air fryer basket or line with parchment paper.

  4. Air fry donuts in batches for 5–6 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden brown. Donut holes may take 3–4 minutes.

  5. While still warm, brush donuts with melted butter.

  6. Toss warm donuts in cinnamon sugar mixture OR dip/drizzle with the apple cider glaze.

  7. Let glaze set for 15–30 minutes on a wire rack.

  8. Serve fresh and warm. Store any leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.

Notes

Notes:

  • For stronger cider flavor, simmer ½ cup apple cider until reduced to ¼ cup, then use in the glaze.

  • Donuts can be double-glazed for a crackly finish.

  • Add a pinch of cardamom or nutmeg to the sugar mixture for a spiced twist.

  • Vegan option: Use plant-based dough, butter, and sugar.

  • Donuts are best enjoyed warm but can be reheated in the air fryer for 2–3 minutes.
